Abstract

This collection includes material relating to the personal and professional activities of Edward and Elizabeth Dwyer, and also includes some material relating to their children, Nancy and John, Elizabeth's parents, Helen and William McLachlan, as well as genealogical material and photographs. Series 1 contains personal correspondence, educational history, and documents relating to Edward Dwyer's civic and cultural activities. Dwyer's professional activities are represented in Series 2, which also includes printed and legal materials pertaining to the companies and associations with which he was affiliated. Elizabeth Dwyer's materials include financial records, correspondence, documents relating to her civic and philanthropic activities, academic papers, employment records, and genealogical material. Also included is material related to both Edward and Elizabeth Dwyer, such as correspondence, legal documents, and materials relating to their extensive international travel. Series 5 contains a small amount of correspondence and other material relating to John and Nancy Dwyer and their maternal grandparents, William and Helen McLachlan. Also included are several hundred family, genealogical, and business-related photographs, as well as a number of audio tapes pertaining to some of Edward Dwyer's professional activities. A few artifacts are included as well.

Edward Dwyer (1906-1999) and Elizabeth McLachlan (1909-1991), high school sweethearts, were both raised in Norwalk, Connecticut.
